Thornley Silver Prize Band, an Early Photograph
Thornley Silver Prize Band, Pre-war

This photograph seems to date from the 1920s or early 1930s and was taken in the Pit Yard. Apart from Edward Kitto Snr, who could possibly be the man standing in the middle of the group and holding the lamp, none of the players have yet been named. Further details welcome. Edward Kitto first became conductor of Thornley Band in 1921, after first leading Thornley Salvation Army Band from 1915. Photograph courtesy of Alan Fulcher
