Neville Wildgust was sent to Brancepeth on a course in early 1942 while serving as an NCO in the Sherwood Foresters and kept the above cutting for the Daily Herald newspaper as a keepsake. Wildgust was later commissioned and, as a platoon officer with the 6th Lincs, was seriously wounded in the Second Battle of Sedjenane in late March 1943. The officer featured in the above photograph is Captain D H Clarke, who later served in D Company, 16 DLI (see the 1942 D Company photograph) and who was wounded in the First Battle of Sedjenane. The photograph below also features Captain Clarke.
